SCI Network - SCI-Network - Sustainable Construction @ Innovation through Procurement

Sustainable Construction & Innovation through Procurement

The SCI-Network connects public authorities looking to procure innovative and sustainable solutions within their construction projects.

The public sector is responsible for 40% of EU construction activity. Buildings are responsible for 36% of EU CO2 emissions.Public sector construction therefore needs to be sustainable and innovative.

The SCI-Network aims to:

  • jointly identify new construction solutions, and
  • examine how best to encourage innovation in construction procurement

Five working groups have been set up to achieve this - see here for more information.

Participants of the SCI-Network are registered on the Discussion Forum, a dedicated space for working group exchanges.

Supplier/procurer seminar, Graz, 24 May – Several companies will present their innovative construction solutions, including energy efficient ventilation, innovative facade systems, and inorganic insulation. The seminar will also include a presentation from a public authority and an in-depth discussion on encouraging technical innovation through construction procurement. There is some funding available to cover travel cost. Contact sci-network@iclei.org to apply for this, and download the programme here.
